Stray Cats and Dogs

The Sterling Heights Animal Control Division regularly rescues lost or stray animals from within the city limits and houses the animals in kennels at the Police Department for about four days or so. If the animal is licensed, the owner will be notified that pet has been found. If the animal is not claimed, it will be moved to a local rescue animal shelter. Animal Control takes all strays to the Macomb County Animal Shelter in Mount Clemens. They may be reached at (586) 469-5115. Animals that are found by Animal Control are never euthanized.

Sterling Heights Animal Control is grateful for the following rescue partners that regularly help animals find forever homes.
