Motorists traveling through Sterling Heights and residents listening at home can use their car and home radios for official Sterling Heights news, activity and emergency information. The City of Sterling Heights launched Sterling Heights Informational Radio, WPTC 520, in October 2001. The station’s signal at 1700 AM is audible only within the boundary of Michigan’s 4th largest city.
Emergency Weather Announcements
The radio station provides people in the community information to make
their lives easier. Recorded announcements of road closures, severe
weather, city news and events fill airtime 24 hours a day.
Residents can tune to 1700 on the AM dial and receive emergency weather announcements from the National Weather Service and emergency messages from the Office of Emergency Management when emergencies and disasters occur.
