The trade mission is being led by the Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s International Trade Office. China is Michigan’s third largest export market, after Canada and Mexico.
In 2014, Michigan exported more than $3.4 billion in goods to China, according to the trade office.
Companies making the trip are:
¦Arbor Plastics Technologies LLC., a specialty additive producer for the plastic resin industry, in Sterling Heights
¦Bulman Products Inc., a manufacturer of cutters, dispensers and racks for rolled paper, in Grand Rapids
¦Energy Design Service Systems, a lighting designer and supplier specializing in energy efficiency, from Whitmore Lake
¦Hybrid Design Services, Inc., a design and engineering firm specializing in electric and hybrid vehicles, in Troy
¦Movimento Group, a vehicle reflashing software designer, in Plymouth
¦Pritech Corp., an automotive parts and logistics supplier, in Canton

Delegates from the export mission are attending business matchmaking events in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. The matchmaking events include customized appointments with prospective partners, distributors and buyers in each region. The participants will also receive in-country briefings about doing business in China.
“China is an important and viable market for a wide range of products and services,” MEDC Chief Executive Officer Steve Arwood said in a statement. “This trade mission will open doors for these companies by helping them identify and enter into new relationships there.”
The MEDC’s International Trade Office says that so far this year it has facilitated $242.7 million in export sales for Michigan companies. This exceeds 2014’s total facilitated sales of $229.7 million.
