Today, the City of Sterling Heights announced the launch of Sterling Fix-It, a citizen-reporting tool for its 130,000+ citizens is now live to download on both iPhone and Android devices.
Citizens can now report issues such as potholes, graffiti, tall grass and more—all while engaging directly with their city government.
“The custom mobile app Sterling Fix-It gives citizens a personalized platform to communicate with their city government. Now, if a resident sees something they would like addressed by the City, they simply need to open the app, log the address and nature of the issue and hit ‘submit,’” said Community Relations Director Bridget Doyle. The item is then automatically routed to the correct department and will be addressed. For those who do not have a smartphone, Sterling Fix-It is also available for use on desktop computer.
Submitters also receive an email notifying them at each stage of the work order process—open, acknowledged and closed. Sterling Fix-It makes reporting issues and otherwise interacting with government easier and more effective, said Doyle.
“The launch of Sterling Fix-It is clear evidence of Sterling Heights’ continued commitment to efficiency, transparency and citizen engagement,” said Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “We have now provided the tools for our residents to report an issue near their home and take greater ownership of the city they live in.”
Sterling Heights is joining a vibrant list of SeeClickFix partners in Michigan. As the second largest suburb of Metro Detroit—and the fourth largest city in the state—Sterling Heights stands out as an innovator helping to build a stronger citizen network in the Detroit area.
The city is also using SeeClickFix to help manage internal workflow with departments such as Public Works. Sterling Heights will see a more effective and efficient way to route service requests, track progress and keep citizens updated about the resolution.
Sterling Fix-It can be downloaded for iPhone and Android devices. For more information, contact Community Relations Director Bridget Doyle at email@example.com or (586) 446-2471.
