[ARCHIVED] City Assessor receives "Most Valuable Member" award

Dwayne McLachlan

Sterling Heights City Assessor Dwayne McLachlan was recently named "Most Valuable Member" of the Michigan Assessors Association (MAA).

McLachlan was selected by his peers to receive this honor, which recognizes career accomplishments and achievement within the organization and all aspects of assessment administration.

In his capacity as an assessor, McLachlan has faced up to the most formidable challenges as a City Assessor, negotiating with Big Three automakers, major  utility companies, and the state's  largest developers. McLachlan balances his municipal work with his efforts in teaching assessment administration and appraisal science classes for the State Assessors Board and State Tax Commission at venues ranging from high schools, community colleges and the MAA.

According to an MAA spokesperson, McLachlan has served diligently and with enthusiasm, assisting the industry in bringing new people to the apex of the profession in Michigan.   With over 40 years in the field, McLachlan has served as Assessor, Treasurer, has served on MAA committees and President of the Michigan Assessors Association.
