How are assessed values determined?
The Sterling Heights Assessing Office calculates assessed values for all properties in the City in the same manner as they were calculated before Proposal A was enacted. The STC has again mandated that local municipalities use a 2-year sales study in calculating residential assessed values (October 1,2011 to September 30, 2013). Changes in assessed value reflect changes in the market value of property.
