Tammy Turgeon

Tammy Turgeon serves as the Community Services Director and the Library Director. Tammy received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University. She has also completed master level coursework in Business Administration at Oakland University. She is a graduate of the Michigan Library Association Leadership Academy.

Before joining the City in June 2007, she served as the director of the Suburban Library Cooperative responsible for the administrative operation and direction of the programs and services provided by the Cooperative to its 20 public library members. She has also served as the Systems Librarian for the Cooperative and has worked for the Troy Public Library. She is active in many library / literacy organizations including Macomb Literacy Partners, MeLCat, Michigan Library Association, and the Detroit Suburban Librarians Roundtable. She is a member of the Michigan Library Association and the American Library Association.
